Reception Soundtrack

On with the soundtrack. The first song selected was the song that would play while our wedding party was introduced. This song was Me & My Gang by Rascal Flats.

The next song played was played on piano by my dad as Cameron and I danced for the first time as husband and wife. The song was John Michael Montgomery’s I Swear.

For the Father/Daughter and Mother/Son dance, Carly Simon was singing a version of You are My Sunshine. This song held special meaning for my dad and I. When I was little, my dad would buckle me into the kiddie seat on the back of his bike and we would bike out into the orchards near our house to visit a farm that had Lamas. Amazingly, in all those trips out there, we never did get spit on. Any how, on our way there and back, my dad would sing You are My Sunshine to me over and over again at my begging requests.

The next song played was for the Wedding Party dance and their dates. The song we chose for this was Kenny Chesney’s Don’t Blink.

All the “official” dances were followed by the following playlist. While some of the songs hold some kind of meaning behind, it would make this post twice as long and then other songs, Cameron put in here only because we like them or they are good party songs.

Ceremony Soundtrack

Cameron worked very hard on our wedding soundtrack and while it didn’t go off quite as planned, we did want to share with you all the songs you should and might have heard at the wedding. As the list is actually quite long, today, we’re sharing the ceremony soundtrack.

Prior to the Cameron’s skydive entrance, the following list of songs were supposed to have played. I don’t believe this happened as the truck that was to be used for the sound system was instead used to drive people to the ceremony site and was driving on the airstrip when Cameron was about to land.

This play list was then to go silent until it was radioed in that Cameron, Matt and Nick had jumped. The song you were supposed to hear up until their landing was Magic Carpet Ride by Steppenwolf.

Then while the boys got out of their gear and into their shirts along with a little time to freshen up, you were supposed to hear Alan Jackson’s Good Time.

I believe you did get to hear the next song, which was for Cameron driving the hay ride with the wedding party. This song was supposed to continue as the girls walked down the aisle – She Thinks My Tractors Sexy by Kenny Chesney.

I walked in to Big & Rich’s Lost in This Moment.

And finally, our exit song: Life is a Highway by Rascal Flats. Not sure who picked up on it, partially because many people couldn’t here our vows, but Cameron’s vows came from this song. My vows came from Shania Twain’s From this Moment.

Last Day of Work before the BIG Day!

Today is my last day working before taking time off to finish up the last of the wedding details and start catching up with visiting family and friends. I think I am finally getting excited – any one who has asked me this question in the last week has gotten a reply of “I think I’m in denial.” It seems I’ve been awaiting this day for so long and worked toward it with all the different crafts so long, that it just doesn’t seem like it really ever could be here. And working has kept my mind off of the big day some too. But today, after 3 or 5 PM, which I ever I decide, I will be off form work for 5 days, promising myself to not open e-mail and attempting to stay away from the computer as much as possible. Tonight I head up to Chico to finish a few little projects with my mom and visit with the first wave of arrive, Aunt Laurinda, Aunt Raelene and Uncle Joe.

I’m sure the reality will hit me even more tomorrow as I work on getting the to-do list even smaller and not working. Before you know it Friday will be here when the first of the festivities begin and the Saturday will come and go too quickly (at least that is what every friend who has gotten married ever has told me :) ).

Any how, when I was up in Chico for the Bridal Shower, I made sure to take a few more pictures of the other items I made for the wedding. I decorated 3 different baskets for different parts of the wedding. Again, the main reason I made these is because everything I found readily available was too fru-fru, too white and too frilly for my taste and the theme of our wedding.

This is the little flower girl basket.


This basket will hold the guest book pens and small business cards to be written on by our guests. (That's Mocha, my parents brat of a cat, hiding in the background. She's just gotta supervise everything!)

This last basket will be placed on the gift table for possible cards.
The last crafty thing I did for the wedding were the favors. I made all the cards and glued the rafia to the tins that then fastens the cards to the tins. I found these little tins online through The Wedding Star - a web site and catalog that specializes in everything you might need for a wedding.

Bridal Shower recap and more Wedding crafts

As I mentioned in my last post, last weekend was my bridal shower. My matron of honor, Steph Ceperley, maid of honor, Emily Moffett and Emily's mother, Bonnie Moffett, hosted the event at Bonnie's home in Chico. The Moffett household has been the location of most of my Christmas Eve celebrations and holds a dear spot in my heart, so the location couldn't have been a better locale to celebrate this joyous time. The party started with cocktail hour out on the back porch.

It was quite festively decorated in garden theme. The ladies had rented linens to match my colors and had japanese laterns with cut out butterflies hanging above. The tables were decorated with beautiful fresh flower mixed bouquets and dragonflies.

At the base of the flower vases were mirrors and dragonfly-shaped confettie. I would learn later that Emily had hole-punched each and every one.

Bonnie out did herself like she does every occassion with the food. There were several types of tea sandwiches, chicken salad, a assorted cheese tray and a variety of breads. I had a lovely time catching up with friends and just taking a day to relax. While I remember to bring my camera (yes, we finally found the chargers) I was a little distracted. Luckily, Sara was kind enough to take some pictures for me. Hopefully I'll have some more from people who had their cameras and remembered to take them.

This is my old high school friend Melissa. It was so great to see her! Luckily, she blogs too so I can stay up-to-date on her life and watch her son Joshua grow up!

This is the dessert spread Bonnie laid out. The cake was from Upper Crust and Bonnie made the Mexican Wedding Cake cookies - so delicious!

Wedding Crafts

It's official - all the craft projects I set out to do in anticipation of our big day are complete! I chose to make a lot of things because I found the options out there weren't Cameron and me at all or fit the theme of our wedding.

Here's a sneak peak at what's to come:




First, check out the guest book. At the wedding, guests can fill out little red business cards which will later be inserted into the creamy, shiny envelopes I glued to the pages of the guest book . I got this idea from my crafty friend Ashley who did this for her wedding guest book. This way multiple guests can sign the guest book at one time.





I just completed the ring bear pillow tonight, which was the last of the projects. While the back is not quite as nicely done as I would have liked, I like it a lot better than the traditional white, frilly pillows I found out there.



I did a lot more, I just don't have pictures to document the projects yet. My shower is this weekend so I'll likely take pictures for you then, and trust me there will be plenty of pictures from the weekend festivities. I can hardly wait - I have no clue what is in store for me and I can't wait to see those of you coming.
